Community Welfare

Our goal is to identify environmentally and economically sustainable solutions by providing communities with simple strategies to build affordable toilets using easily accessible materials. This approach aims to eliminate open defecation and facilitate important discussions around sanitation, waste management, recycling, and menstrual hygiene. Through this initiative, families adopt practices that enhance their well-being while promoting a healthier environment.

In line with Government priorities at the national and local levels, our focus includes the following sustainable intervention:

Urban Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS)

We believe every community deserves dignity and a clean, sustainable environment. Our urban CLTS initiative empowers residents to lead the way in improving their quality of life and adopting eco-friendly practices.

Open Defecation Free (ODF):
Every child deserves a safe place to grow, and every woman deserves to feel secure. That’s why we work hand-in-hand with communities to eliminate open defecation. This essential initiative promotes healthier environments, ensuring safety and dignity for everyone, especially the most vulnerable.

House-to-House Visits:
Our dedicated Community Outreach Worker volunteers visit households in informal settlements, bringing tailored resources to initiate meaningful conversations. These visits focus on educating families about the risks of open defecation and encouraging vital sanitation and hygiene practices. This grassroots approach not only builds awareness but also instils a sense of community ownership in fostering healthier surroundings.

Waste Management:
Partnering with local authorities and the private sector, we drive effective waste management and recycling practices. By supporting a circular economy, we aim to improve environmental health, create income opportunities, and promote sustainable living for all.

Toilet Construction

Building low-cost demonstration toilets is a key part of our mission. We construct affordable toilets that adhere to WHO health standards and inspire residents to take the initiative in building their own. This hands-on approach promotes self-reliance and encourages a shift toward improved sanitation.

Social Enterprises

Empowerment goes beyond immediate solutions; it’s about creating lasting change. Through innovative social enterprise models, we implement sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices that uplift communities and protect the environment. These business models not only provide economic opportunities but also instil a sense of ownership and responsibility among residents.
